I have been trying to get ChatGPT 3.5 to give me 30 questions on the topic of poodles and then, at the end, give me 30 answers related to the questions. This it manages with ease, but what it is not giving me is the questions in a numerical order with the answers.
For some reason, it is either adding bullet points at the start or just the questions. I have tried all ways to get a numerical list. What would be the correct prompt?
Thank you Ammon, for you reply, here are the prompts I have tried and also the reponses from ChatGPT
Prompt: Give me 30 questions on poodles, listing them in numerical order and giving the answers listed again in numerical order at the end of the list of questions
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are 30 questions about Poodles, along with their corresponding answers:
Questions:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
Prompt: Please repeat the questions, this time numbering them 1–30 and applying the answers again at the end using the matching listing of 1–30.
ChatGPT: Apologies for the confusion. Here are the revised questions, numbered 1-30, along with their corresponding answers listed at the end:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
Prompt: Again, we are not numbering the questions or the answers, can you please start each question with a numerical number? and the answers to have the matching numerical number
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are the questions, each starting with a numerical number, along with the corresponding answers listed with the matching numerical number:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
• Germany.
Prompt: Not sure why we have no numbered lists for the questions and answers
ChatGPT: Apologies for the confusion. Here is the revised version with numbered lists for the questions and answers:
Questions:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
Prompt: But we are still not starting with a number
ChatGPT: Apologies for the oversight. Here is the revised version with the questions and answers starting with a numerical number:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
• Germany.
Prompt: Give a list from one to thrity
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here is a list from one to thirty:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
Prompt: Can you not do a numerical list when deriving questions and answers?
ChatGPT: Apologies for the confusion. Here are the questions and answers without numbering:
Questions:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
Prompt: But still, we are not getting any numbers to cross-reference the answers.
ChatGPT: Apologies for the continued confusion. Here is a revised version with numbered questions and answers for easy cross-referencing:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
• Germany.
Prompt: You marked them with bullet points, not numbers, these need to be numbered so that question one can match up with answer one. Does that make sense?
ChatGPT: Apologies for the confusion. Here is a revised version with numbered questions and answers:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
• Germany.
Thank you, RealityMoez, for your reply and support.
I tried this, first of all, using your suggestion
Prompt: Please provide the questions and answers in two ordered lists, one for questions and one for answers.
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are the questions and answers presented in two ordered lists, one for questions and one for answers:
Questions:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
I then tried using your suggestions as is
Prompt: Provide the answer in ordered list
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are the answers presented in an ordered list:
Germany.
Poodles come in three sizes: Standard, Miniature, and Toy.
Converation started like this
Prompt: Give me 20 facts about poodles
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are 20 fascinating facts about Poodles:
Prompt: Give me 30 questions on poodles, listing them in numerical order and giving the answers listed again in numerical order at the end of the list of questions
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are 30 questions about Poodles, along with their corresponding answers:
Questions:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
How many sizes do Poodles come in?
Which Poodle size is the largest?
Okay, but which one of those prompts includes the example of 30 numbered questions and 30 numbered answers, for ChatGPT to understand the pattern you want the answer to match?
Here is the most recent one I have tried, but I am still getting the same results.
Prompt: Please produce the questions and answers as follows: 1. question; 2. question, and so on until 30. Then, at the end, list the answers as the same: 1. answer, 2. answer, and so on until 30.
ChatGPT: Certainly! Here are the questions and answers presented in the requested format:
What country is considered the original homeland of Poodles?
Wow, firstly, thank you, RealityMoez, for helping me. I feel so stupid that it was as simple as this to resolve; I just assumed the numerical listing would show up in the output.
Is there a reason why ChatGPT does not show the numerical list, and the only way to see it is by copying and pasting?
